What is SEO?

SEO is the abbreviation for search engine optimization. It refers to ways that help your site become more visible in organic search results via search engines like Google, Bing, and Yahoo.

What are meta descriptions?

A meta description is a text that appears below your page listing in a Google result that explains what the page is all about.

It’s important you write something compelling that makes readers want to click so you can improve conversion.

Organic vs. Paid results, what is the distinction?

Organic = terms you rank for based on relevancy and keywords that people are searching for, and you don’t pay.
Paid = search results usually show at the top of search results. These links you pay for based on competition. Some clicks go as high as $250 per click.

Should I optimize my domain name to include keywords?

Overoptimizing days are long gone. Search engines frown upon using keywords into domains unless that’s the actual name of the business.

How many times should I use the keyword on my site?

Mostly that’s the wrong way to think about keyword optimization. Your focus should be to write informative and relevant content, algorithms have gotten very smart nowadays and can spot keyword stuffing very quick. So concentrate on providing value to the readers instead.

What's the difference between inbound and internal links?

Internal links are links on a page on your site that go to another page on your site and inbound links are other websites that link to your content. Both are valuable for SEO.

Do I need internal links?

You should avoid packing too many links to your content. Only use them for relevant content if it the reader experience, only include them.

Can I do SEO myself?

Coding is not required for each component of search optimization. There are some more advanced SEO tactics that you will need a basic understanding of code for, but it is not required for every part.

What is a robots file?

When search engines send their crawlers to your website, the first look for a robots.txt file. This file gives Google specific instructions on which pages to index on their big database.

What is a sitemap?

This file is a directory of all the pages on your website. It’s a quick source for search engines to access the content that you want to be indexed.

What is the difference between indexed and crawling?

When search engines look through the content on your website, they are crawling your site. As they crawl your site, they index content that will appear in the search engine.

How can I see what pages are indexed?

Search engines now index sites automatically. The best and quickest way to get your site indexed though would be through a tweet or a facebook share.

Why do you need alt text on your images?

Search engines can not read images (yet) but they can read the text. The alt text helps them figure out what the images are all about. Plus, if a page doesn’t load for some reason, people can still find out what the image is by reading the alt text

Should I hire an expert to do my SEO?

Be cautious when hiring someone to do your SEO. These are red flags: “I/we guarantee first spot results.” No one can give you a guarantee for the first spot because algorithms change very frequently, “I’ll give you 1000 backlinks, and that will boost your rankings” actually this will get your website deindexed from search engines.

How long does it take to see Results?

Most of our clients start seeing within the first three months; it takes up to 6 months to achieve satisfactory results. Keep in mind though, SEO is not a one-time thing; you have to reinvest in your business and keep it up otherwise your competition will overtake you.
